Young Nobel Prize Winner, Malala Yousafzai Arrives Borno With Her Father, Meets Governor Shettima

Yousafzai earlier yesterday paid Governor Kashim Shettima a courtesy
visit at the Government House Maiduguri. She was accompanied by her
father, Ziauddin Yousafzai Shangla and officials of the UN.
Malala suggested for a better future to the children in Borno State by supporting teachers in terms of better salary and other incentives, and urged the State Government to ensure the safety of children and their education by implementing the child’s right act and promoting transparency in the educational sector to allow other donor agencies to come in, as they thanked the State Government for its efforts in providing quality education to the children.
Governor Kashim Shettima while receiving them assured to provide intellectual skills to the children for a better future, and coming to expenditure on education, he is about to spend over 40% of the budget.
He said towards this end, mothers in the Northern Borno which is left behind in terms of Western education will be given a stipend of N2000 per month to send their children to school, adopting Brazil's 'Bolsa Familia' model of social welfare and education programme on improving the lives of the populace.
The Governor later took them to one of the Mega Schools being constructed, for them to have a feel of his passion for girl child education, and education in general.
