Female Army Officer Arrested For Accepting Proposal From A Male Coppa

The love story and marriage proposal between the female officer whose name is Private Hannah Sofiat. A, and an unknown corp member, was indeed a story that went viral across all social media platforms.

The Batch C stream II corp member, who went for his compulsory three weeks orientation camp in Yikpata, Kwara state, was seen in viral video, proposing to a female officer, as cheers followed in from the crowd who were obviously corp member. 

However, in what might seem as an unfortunate ending for the two love birds, the Nigerian Army, through the Director of the Army Public Relations, Brigadier. General Onyema Nwachukwu, on Sunday, 19th of December, 2021, made it known that Private Hannah Sofiat would be punished for her act.

It was made known that the officer violated the military laws by getting involved with a civilian in a public display of amorous relationship. Meanwhile, according to report as reported by Sahara reporters, it was made known that after the video clip went viral, the female officer was detained by the order of the Captain in the person of M. M Abdullahi, who happens to be the camp commandant where the proposal scenario took place.

Also, in one of the military statements that was released, it was made known that some of the rules Private Hannah violated which led to her detention was that, "she was not due for marriage, she was publicly romancing on uniform, she was absent on parade, she disobeyed the standing order of social media" and so on.

Should the female officer be detained and dealt with by the Nigeria Army for accepting a marriage proposal from a corp member? Is it actually against the law for a military personnel to get married to a civilian?
